San Antonito 2016-17 Bus Route Information

APS Bus Info

Welcome back to another great school year!

 Bus Routes:

The bus companies and the APS Transportation Department plan bus routes and bus stops. For information or questions regarding routes or stops, call the following numbers:

APS Transportation Department:                  281 - 3316 (Press 0)

Behavior on Buses:

  1. The driver is in full charge of students when they are riding the bus.  The students must obey the driver.  In cases where teachers or school administrators are on the bus, they are also authorized to enforce student discipline.
  2. The use of tobacco, drugs or alcoholic beverages is not permitted.
  3. Animals, firearms, knives, explosives, breakable glass items, or other dangerous items are not permitted on the bus.  No item that will block the aisle or that will be tossed around in an accident may not be carried on the bus.
  4. Students are not permitted in front of the passenger seating area while the bus is in motion.
  5. Students must be on time at their assigned bus stops.  The bus driver will not wait for students unless they are observed making an effort to reach the bus.
  6. Students must wait in a safe area, which is clear of traffic and away from where the bus stops.  Students must wait in an orderly manner and avoid inappropriate behavior.  When unloading, students should clear the traffic area immediately.
  7. Students may not get on or off the bus or move about within the bus while it is in motion.
  8. Students are not permitted to leave the bus on the way to and from school except at their regular assigned stop without advanced written permission of the Student Transportation Services.
  9. Students should look both ways before crossing to the opposite side of the road.
  10. Students who must cross the road after leaving the bus will cross only when the driver signals all is clear.  They then must pass far enough in front of the bus, approximately 8 to 10 feet, so that the driver can see them.  Students will not cross multi-lane roadways to meet or leave the bus.
  11. Students who ride the bus are expected to ride their assigned bus home.  The school cannot accept a telephone call requesting that a specific student ride a different bus.
  12. The law provides that the principal has permission to deny student transportation if his/her conduct warrants such action.  In such a case, the parents become responsible for seeing that the student has transportation to and from school.
  13. Students are not allowed to ride home on a friend’s bus.  If students are to go home with another student, families must make arrangements for the students to be picked up at school.

Rules When Riding The Bus

1.   Students are to stay seated and facing front while the bus is in motion.

2.   Students are to use an “inside voice” and only talk to the person beside or across from them.

3.   Students are to keep their hands and feet to themselves.

4.   Wear seat belts if available

5.   Backpacks are to be in the possession of the child at all times.

6.   Isles should remain clear at all times.

7.   All body parts should remain in the bus at all times.

8.   Students may not throw objects

9.   Students will not use vulgar language or gestures.

10. Students will not bother the possessions of others.

CONSEQUENCES FOR BUS RULE VIOLATION

Failure to comply with the highlighted and underlined rules will result in the following:

1st Bus Referral Slip:  1 day of no PM recess.

2nd Bus Referral Slip: 2 days of no recesses.  Behavior Contract created by student and principal.

3rd Bus Referral Slip:  1 day suspended off bus

4th Bus Referral Slip:  3 days suspended off bus

5th Bus Referral Slip:  8 days suspended off bus

6th Bus Referral Slip:  10 days suspended off bus

7th Bus Referral Slip:  Suspended off bus rest of semester.

Because of the unique conditions of this area, all San Antonito students who are not on a transfer are given the opportunity to ride the bus to and from school. Appropriate student behavior is required of those students using this service. Bus routes and stops are planned by APS Transportation. If you have any questions, please call them at 281-3316 (Press 0) to speak with Lynn Carl or Roger Garcia.
